A review: Esters from the phthalic class

Author(s):

Ioana Stanciu

Abstract:

Plasticizers have long been known for their effectiveness in obtaining flexible plastic materials, with wide applications in the automotive industry, in the medical field and in the consumer industry. Plasticizers from the phthalic class are produced on a large scale, and the literature indicates numerous directions of application. Thus, flexible films are obtained from polyvinyl chloride and phthalic esters synthesized with C9-12 alcohols, alcohols that are more than 70% linear; the foils made in this way have a high resistance to environmental factors and as such can be used as protective materials for roofs.
